Gemological Consulting

There are many reasons to seek our Gemological Consultation services—whether you need guidance on purchasing a significant piece of jewelry or simply want to identify a mysterious "blue stone." Consultations can be tailored to your preferences, either verbal or written, and we'll work closely with you to ensure it meets your specific needs.

Estate Appraisals

An estate appraisal serves various purposes, most commonly:

  • Equitable Distribution of Assets: After a loved one's passing or a divorce, it ensures fair division of jewelry and other valuables.

  • Tax Basis Determination: Establishing a value after a loved one's death, which may later be used for capital gains tax calculations.

Depending on the purpose, estate appraisals provide either Fair Market Value (FMV) or Market Value assessments.

Insurance Appraisals

The days of a jeweler simply writing a value on paper for insurance are long gone. Today, insurance companies have stricter and varied appraisal requirements, depending on both the provider and the value of the jewelry.

We offer a range of insurance-related appraisals to help protect your valuables, including:

  • Insurance Replacement Appraisal: For obtaining coverage.

  • Post-Loss Appraisal: Should your jewelry be damaged or lost, detailing the damage, assessing value depreciation, estimating repair or reproduction costs, and determining salvage value.

All insurance appraisals are based on Estimated Retail Replacement Value, reflecting the cost to replace your lost or stolen item with a similar piece.
